2015 recap: What we’ve learnt in our first 8 months. 21.12.2015 : 09:41am
First off …MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Now we’ve got that out of the way, we wanted to share with you some of some of the highs and lows we’ve had in 2015, of course the mistakes we made and what 2016 holds.
In April, Yudoozy will have our first birthday (how’s about that then!). It’s a bit of an over-used saying but if only we had known back then what we know now. We’ve learnt so much along the way that our brains have now swollen to the size of large watermelons (not literally).
If you have been with us from launch you’ll remember the LinkedIn sign up and import. That was fun for the first two weeks until LinkedIn closed their API off to the public. We applied to keep using it and they said no – thanks LinkedIn. Lesson here is never build a sign up process based around another product or service no matter how big they are. And to be fair we didn’t need them anyway.
If you’re a freelancer currently using Yudoozy and getting work then you’re likely to love us. We’re like a nice cold beer on a hot summer’s day. If you’ve not got work yet then you’re probably left scratching your head at what’s going on, right? We openly admit there’s not enough visibility on what’s happening behind the scenes or what employers are doing. That’s our fault.
We had planned to build a lot for you early on, especially into the dashboard, but it hasn’t happened as quick as we’d like. It’s frustrating from our end too seeing so many amazing people signing up and being left in the dark, not setting their availability because they’ve not benefited from the value yet. That is all about to change I can promise you.
On a much happier note, LOADS of freelancers have been getting jobs! We have happy freelancers, happy paying employers and happy investors (and happy founders because of all the happy people). So 2016 is looking bright…and happy!
Here’s what we’re building and why in early 2016
One of our key focusses in the new year will be freelancer tools, things like a fancy dashboard and hourly rate calculator so you can see exactly what’s going on. We’ll also be improving the onboarding and vetting process so it’s nicely streamlined for you and we’ll be carefully constructing a new pricing structure that will allow more employers to book you for awesome gigs.
Most importantly we’d like to thank you – no matter what capacity of involvement you’ve had with Yudoozy this year, big thanks. You’ve helped shape where we are now and where we’re going whether you know it or not.
